With over fifteen years of leadership in
community-based initiatives and organizations,
Edna Faulkner has spent her career in the
fields of public relations, advocacy, special
events planning and coordination.
Born in Panama, Edna is fluent in Spanish
and proficient in French. A former corporate
travel executive Edna has traveled the world
extensively, and is the founder and past
president of Orion Travel Corporation. She
has also taught all aspects of the travel
industry, tourism and hotel management at
Berkley College and Betty Owen Business
School. These experiences have afforded
her the unique skill of effortless cross-cultural
communication in racially, ethnically, and
linguistically diverse populations and extensive
experience in planning and coordination
of professional meetings and special events
both in the United States and abroad.

A graduate degree in Urban Studies from
the City University of New York, Queens
College has further expanded her expertise
and involvement in such fields as health
policy making, emerging diseases in the
city, and health services and policy. Her
interest in urban problems, specifically
health administration and public policy,
have lead her to research and develop proposals
for the understanding and solving of issues
identified as common urban maladies that
disproportionately impact those of African,
Hispanic, Asian and American Indian heritage.

Her outstanding contributions to business
and community organizations have made her
the recipient of the New York District Kiwanis
International Award, and the Elmcor Economic
Development Award. Besides her continued
involvement in organizations such as: the
Corona/East Elmhurst Kiwanis Club, Neighborhood
Housing Board of Queens, and the National
Council for Negro Women.
